The only thing missing from my clay studio was a potter's wheel. I haven't thrown clay on a wheel before and so I wanted to get a used wheel and cheaply. Over the holidays, I finally found one on Craigslist that was within my price range.
The first few days of "practice" were awful because I had no idea what I was doing!
So I watched a bunch of YouTube videos and remembered that I had a bunch of books that my mentor, Elva, gave me, and I started to read and get more informed. Within a handful of sessions, I was starting to get the hang of it and began turning out some pieces that I liked enough to keep and embellish:
Throwing on a wheel is nothing like the hand building method. It is WAY faster and a whole lot messier! I will still keep making hand built pots as well as continuing to practice throwing.
